Abstract

727,427. Brush holders for dynamo-electric machines. CAMPBELL & ISHERWOOD, Ltd., and RAWLINSON, R. Sept. 25, 1953 [Aug. 27, 1952], No. 21501/52. Class 35. A brush spring 20 is adjusted by a stud 15 which forms an anchorage for one end of the spring and which can be locked with a lug 14 of the brush holder in various different angular positions. The stud has a polygonal collar 18, the corners of which mate snugly with corresponding recesses 16 formed in the lug 14. Alternatively, the lug may have a polygonal cut-away part and the recesses formed in the stud. To make the necessary adjustment, the stud 15 is first loosened from the holder to release it and then, after being turned to adjust the spring tension, the stud is tightened again to the holder to re-lock it thereto.
