Abstract

727,332. Refrigerators. AERO PIPE & GLASS CO., Ltd. Sept. 30, 1953 [Oct. 21, 1952], No. 26438/52. Class 29. In a refrigerator comprising a freezer compartment 6 and a storage compartment 5 for receiving articles initially refrigerated in compartment 6, the compartments being disposed as shown, the compartment 6 has an.intermediate wall 18, a perforated false bottom 23 and an evaporator 15 and air is drawn down wardly through the evaporator and forced upwardly through the false bottom by a fan 19 driven from a motor 22 located in the machinery space 7. The fan shaft 20 and its bearing 21 are of insulating material. Compartment 5 has an evaporator 10. The apparatus is on wheels 31. Compartment 6 is defrosted by e.g. placing a pan of hot water therein and running the fan 19. Melt water is withdrawn through a drain pipe 28 fitted with a tap 30.
