In a strap and buckle assembly apparatus of the kind provided with a plurality of buckle supply magazines and an ejector mechanism for ejecting a buckle from the outlet of each magazine for assembly of a plurality of buckles with the companion strap elements to provide an adjustable strap for example, for ladies' underwear, each of the magazines when placed in its operational position in the apparatus has its outlet for the buckles at the lower end so that the buckles are fed by gravity to the outlet. The invention is described as embodied in the apparatus described in Specifications 493,969 and 681,489 modified accordingly. The magazine 208 for double-eyed buckles and the magazine 210 for single-eyed buckles are disposed laterally with respect to each other on the upper side of the block 64 mounted on the bed plate 20 with the lower ends of the magazines resting on recessed portions of respective guideways of reciprocable ejector members 122, 124 so that the buckle discharge outlets in the lower ends of the magazines are disposed in register with the respective guideways disposed in different horizontal planes, and converging towards two buckle holding devices 74, 76 arranged to receive the buckles from the magazines and to hold them releasably with eyelets in the two buckles in vertical register. The magazines 208 and 210 are releasably held in a mounting device secured to block 64 and comprising a casting 214 having vertically extending notches 216, 220 closed at their sides by a plate 222 and inserts, removably mounted in the magazine holder, size the notches for fittingly accommodating magazines of buckles of different sizes. The buckle ejector plates 122, 124 are operated simultaneously from a foot-operated carriage comprising a holder member 136 having a portion riding in a guide slot 128 in the bed plate 20, the ends of the slot acting as stops to limit the movement of the carriage. This latter has a yoke provided with oppositely extending diagonally directed slots 194, 196. The ejector plate 122 of the upper guideway is carried on the underside of an arm 198 provided with a depending roller 202 disposed within the. slot 194 and the ejector plate 124 for the lower guide extends from an arm 204 carrying a roller on the enlarged part 205 and extending into the slot 196 so that the rollers converge in the slots as the carriage moves to the buckle ejection positions. For adjusting the ejector plates with respect to the jaws 74 and 76 the yoke is adjustably held relative to the carriage 136 by means of an elongated slot 180 in the yoke and a bolt 182 extending into the carriage and the relative position on the carriage is determined by an adjusting screw 188 mounted in an upstanding part 190 of the carriage.
