A method of producing blooms, particularly tube blooms for subsequent rolling into seamless tubing, comprises cutting-off the blooms from a continuous casting by means of high frequency induction coils clipped on or to the casting. The cutting-off coils may be returned to initial position after operation or, a number of rings may be used spaced at the required distance apart according to the length of bloom required. Solid billets may be divided into individual pieces in the same manner.
