726,467. Binding-posts; terminal boards. ALDEN, M. May 14, 1953, No. 13518/53. Class 38 (1). [Also in Group XXII] A soldering terminal 20 (Fig. 5) of soft brass or bronze comprises two loops 28, 30 and a slot 36 in which a lead may be securely held while being soldered to the terminal. Leads may also be inserted and soldered in the loops 28, 30. The lower end 24, 26 of the terminal is passed through an aperture in a terminal board 38 and then formed into an eyelet to hold the terminal in place. The part 24 is formed with an aperture 27 for the attachment of a lead. This soldering tag may also be omitted (Fig. 8, not shown). In another embodiment (Fig. 10) the slot 36c has recesses 50, each of which can accommodate a lead from a component, while in another embodiment (Figs. 9, 11, 12, not shown) three loops are provided with or without notches in one side of the slot. In Fig. 13 a tapered serrated slot 36e and three loops are provided, and the lowest loop 46e is of triangular shape so that the terminal can be supported on a terminal board by an anvil A while the terminal is fastened to the board by splaying the tabs 24e outwardly by means of a tube T and a punch P (Figs. 15 and 16). One of the tabs may be shortened (Fig. 18, not shown).
