Abstract
726,122. Forming fibre laps. AKTIEBOLAGET STATENS SKOGSINDUSTRIER. May 5, 1953, No. 12403/53. Class 120 (1). Mineral wool is produced by forming mineral fibres from a gaseous suspension, depositing them on the bottom of a " blowing " chamber to form a fibre mat, and feeding the mat continuously out of the blowing chamber on a conveyor belt, the mat, while it is still growing, being subjected to vibrations for suitably orientating the fibres to obtain a firmer consistency and increased heat-insulating capacity of the mat. The vibrations may be transmitted to the mat through one or more of a plurality of elements supporting the conveyor belt ; or a pressure roller located at the exit from the blowing chamber may transmit vibrations through the compressed mat to the conveyor belt so as to be effective on the mat while it is growing.
