Abstract

506,656. Opening fibres; lap-forming apparatus. TUFIDE PRODUCTS CORPORATION. Dec. 1, 1937, No. 33241. Convention date, Dec. 1, 1936. [Class 120 (i)] [Also in Group VIII] Newsprint &c. on conveyers 1, Fig. 2, is defibrated by pickers 20, the fibres being blown along conduits 62, 62a, each, with the aid of a fan 70, feeding half the length of a pair of condenser rollers 81, 82, Fig. 5, exhausted by a pump 97, and stripped at 981. The condensed fleece passes down a funnel 98 to a conveyer 99 feeding a further picker 110 the fleece from which is again condensed, at 180, Fig. 2, between a suction drum and a suction conveyer belt. The fleece is sprayed at 233 with a binder, and is compressed, dried and calendered to form fibreboard &c. The picker drum 111 may move at 2,000 to 10,000 ft. per min. The pins project ¢ to 1¢ in. and are “ in. apart. The feed rollers 121 are fluted and are adjustably loaded at 134. The upper of blocks 142 between which the fleece s<1> passes may " float " thereon. Fibres are blown off the drum 111 by a fan 160.
