725,519. Moulding concrete kerbs. LONGFORD & MIDLAND CONCRETE CO., Ltd. Aug. 29, 1953, No. 23941/53. Class 87 (2). In forming curved concrete kerbs a press normally adapted to form straight pressed concrete kerbs is modified by replacing the top die by a die 12, Fig. 1, with a curved face, and lining the mould with a curved plate 22 whose surfaces 24 and 25 define the front of the kerb, and with wedge-shaped plates 27 to provide suitable end rake. After the kerb has been pressed in the mould, the end plates 27 are removed and the kerb lifted out by a suction-operated top plate, Fig. 2 (not shown) carrying a suitably curved rubber, or other plate. Kerbs with the front face on the inside of the curve may be made by using a top die and moulding plate having, respectively, concave and convex surfaces. A range of curved kerbs may' be made with one die and one moulding plate by placing the kerb 45 before drying on a template of the required curvature 46, Fig. 3, so that it sets to the curvature of the template.
