Classes 78 (1) and 78 (4), Pulverulent or granular material is discharged from an elongated substantially horizontally extending container through an opening in its lower part by aerating it with compressed air from below and from above simultaneously. The container 1, which may be stationary or transportable, has a porous false bottom 4, e.g. of filter stone, porous tiles, porous rubber or canvas, below which is a space 5. This space is connected by a pipe 11 to a compressor 10 which is connected also by a pipe 12 to the space 14 above the material. The space 14 may be separated from the material by porous material. Inclined surfaces 3, 7 facilitate the downflow of the material.
