Abstract

725,035. Type-bar-making machines. LINOTYPE & MACHINERY, Ltd. (Linotype Ges.). May 13, 1953, No. 13384/53. Class 100 (3). Moulds.-In a mould wheel for a matrix composing and type line casting machine of the kind having slots for accommodating moulds and passages arranged within the wheel for the flow of cooling medium, cooling passages extend closely adjacent the two longitudinal sides of the mould slots, and the passages for the cooling medium are so arranged that the cooling medium flows successively to the mould slots, there being a single supply port and a single discharge port for the cooling medium in the .mould wheel to all moulds. Cooling medium flows through an inlet opening m, Fig. 1, through passages o past three sides of each mould slot b in turn, and thence through passages p past the inner longitudinal sides of the slots to an outlet opening n. The passages are formed by means of guide elements k in a cavity formed by an annular recess in the rear face of the mould wheel a covered by a plate h. In another form, Fig. 3, bars o<SP>1</SP>, p<SP>1</SP> are arranged above and below the moulds. The bars are formed with ducts. The cooling medium passes from a resilient tube t through the ducts of the bars p<SP>1</SP> and flexible conduits u connecting them through a flexible transfer pipe v, through the ducts of the bars o<SP>1</SP> and flexible conduits w connecting them to a discharge conduit x. The bars are adjustable for mould changing by means of screws y, q.
