Abstract
720,937. Type-bar-making machines. LINOTYPE & MACHINERY, Ltd. (Linotype Ges.). April 29, 1953, No. 11798/53. Class 100 (3). Moulds.-In a matrix-composing and typeline casting machine provided with a mould wheel rotatable about a stationary journal and internally cooled by the circulation of a cooling medium, the supply and discharge of said medium is effected through a distributer member which is separate from the mould wheel but connected thereto to rotate therewith, the distributer member being inserted in a fluid-tight manner in the journal of the mould wheel. The distributer member 4 is secured to the mould wheel 2 by a driving member 12 and is sealed off from the journal 3 by a stuffing- box 7. Water from a pipe 9 enters the member 4 through a channel 5 passing through a tubular portion of the member extending axially into the journal. Water is discharged through a channel 6 into a cavity 10 in the journal connected to a pipe 11. The channels 5, 6 are coupled to the wheel through nipples 15 and flexible pipes 16. In another form, the channel 5 opens into a second cavity separate from the cavity 10 but away from the journal axis.
