A method of curing a sand-resin mould or core comprises exposing a blanket of the sandresin mix on a metal pattern to temperature conditions in excess of 800‹ F. The exposure may be for a time of less than 60 seconds. The coated pattern may be exposed for 38 seconds to infra-red radiation from a furnace heated to 1600‹ F., or in a circulating-air type furnace, at a temperature of 1000-1200‹ F. or 800‹ F. for 30 and 45 seconds respectively. A hollow core may be cured by the insertion of a hot mandrel. Mould and core materials.-Phenolformalde hyde and melamine formaldehyde resins are quoted as examples of binders.
