724,709. Magnetic structures. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. March 20, 1953 [March 26, 1952], No. 7830/53. Class 38 (2). The hysteresis losses of ferrite cores are kept down at the expense of a somewhat lower permeability by sintering for relatively short periods. Nickel zinc ferrite was made by mixing the oxides wet in a ball mill, drying, pressing into toroidal cores and sintering for 10 minutes at 1300‹ C. in air, cooling to 800‹ C. in the oven, and thereafter in air. A similar core made of manganese zinc ferrite was annealed in nitrogen for 40 minutes at 1250‹ C. and cooled in nitrogen to 800‹ C. and thereafter in air. A small amount of rutile may be added.
