724,247. Homopolar machines. MERUNOVICH, A. Oct. 2, 1952 [Oct. 2, 1951], No. 24761/52. Class 35. A homopolar D.C. generator comprises a pair of steel discs 3 mounted and electrically connected on the same shaft 4 and connected to the terminals 9 through peripheral mercury troughs 8 at the edge of the discs. The axial working flux between poles 2, 3 is derived from annular magnets 1 which are grooved to receive the mercury. The output current may be caused to pulsate by slotting the discs and several pairs of discs can be mounted on mutually insulated tubes on the shaft.
