Abstract

723,886. Chucks. NATIONAL ACME CO. Sept. 13, 1951 [Oct. 11, 1950], No. 21549/51. Class 83(3). A chuck comprises two cover members 12, 13 constituting a cylindrical body 12, plates 40 attached to radially movable jaws 14, and springs 45 between each plate and the body. The chuck is secured to a spindle 10, which may be as described in Specification 723,885 by an adapter 30. The jaws are moved to grip the work by a bevelled sleeve 15. Buttons 55 engage the adapter 30 to assist in transmitting the driving torque. A sleeve 52 and an extension 53 keep the mechanism clean.
