[Also in Group VII] In an article of jewellery of the kind in which the stones are held in cup-shaped or frame-like mounts as in chains, necklaces or bands formed of chains connected in side-by-side relationship, two or more mounts are connected together by a link having integrally connected spaced portions each fitting within a mount and retained therein by the stone. In a modification, e.g. as in " droppers " for necklaces or ear-rings, the link is formed integrally with a mount and has a portion fitted within another mount to be retained therein by the set stone. As shown in Figs. 2 and 3 wherein two chains of mounted stones are each formed by passing a metal strip through slots 20 in the mounts 10 and subsequently severing the strip at the positions in the mounts 10, and expanding the ends to form tabs 21, the opposite mounts of each chain thus produced, or as produced in any other manner are connected by links consisting of two ring-like portions 13, secured by stones 12 in respective mounts 10 as by claws 11 and spaced by a stem portion 14 integral therewith extending through gaps 15 in the sides of the mounts. Such a link forms a simple piece of jewellery comprising two mounts. The ring portions 13 may be replaced by arcuate portions. For connecting three mounts the link may be as shown in Fig. 8 or with complete ring end portions. Links as shown in Fig. 3 may also be used to form a chain. In Fig. 9 the ring portion 25 is integrally joined by a stem 24 with a mount 23 provided with claws 27 for securing a stone and the ring 25 is secured by a stone set into a mount 26 joining part of a chain or necklace.
