Abstract
722,061. Dynamo-electric machines. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and LEWIS, W. E. June 23, 1953 [July 4, 1952], No. 16885/52. Class 35. Bearing currents, auxiliary means for preventing.-The flow of bearing currents is prevented by an insulating layer formed by a chemical treatment of a surface of the bearing or of the shaft or of the bearing housing or support. One such layer may be formed by anodizing or by phosphate treatment. In one arrangement, an anodized aluminium bush 14 is located in a recess 15 surrounding the bearing and in addition an anodized ring 16 is put alongside the bearing. Alternatively, the bearing supporting structure 13 is made of aluminium having an anodized surface. In a further arrangement, the surface layer is formed by a phosphate treatment of a steel part of the shaft or bearing or bearing support. The Provisional Specification also mentions the employment of the bush 14 and ring 16 made of rubber or rubber-like composition or moulded material.
