Abstract
721,311. Liquid levels. TRIMINGHAM, A. L. April 17, 1953 [April 29, 1952], No. 10738/52. Class 97 (2). A liquid level comprises a tubular element which is flexible at least in part, has transparent portions for enabling the ends of the liquid column to be observed and is provided adjacent each end with valve members which are interconnected so as to be operable simultaneously. The level shown includes a flexible tube 3 detachably connected to sleeves 8 threaded on identical cylindrical tubes 1, 2. Each tube comprises a transparent part 5 threaded at its upper end to a cap 14. This cap carries an annular seal 16 adapted to seal the end of the body portion when the cap is rotated in one direction, and a rod 13 which supports a valve member 12, adapted to co-operate with a seating 11 in the sleeve 8, so that the upper and lower ends of the tube are opened or closed by rotating the cap 14. When the upper end of the tube is unsealed, air entres through an aperture 20 in the cap. Valve member 12 may be resilient.
