A fibrous gas filter material e.g., woven cloth or wool felt is impregnated with a substantially non-volatile linear polymerised siloxane. Felt is impregnated with dimethyl siloxane diluted with 25 parts of methyl ethyl ketone which is then evaporating away. Any polysiloxane having a viscosity in excess of 50 centistokes is suitable.
