[Also in Group X] Relates to collapsible gates, shutters and the like of the kind comprising shutter plates 1 which are rotatably secured together at their adjacent longitudinal edges so that the shutter plates may be extended to closed position and may be collapsed from closed position to open position by folding the shutter plates together alternately back-to-back and faceto-face accordion-wise, the adjacent longitudinal edge portions of the shutter plates being rotatably housed in the channels of longitudinally extending channelled connecting members 2 and some of the connecting members, preferably alternate ones, being secured to pickets 3. According to the invention, adjacent sides of longitudinally extending edge portions of the shutter plates are faced with protective rubbing strips 10 of stainless steel or other rust-proof material. Similar protective strips may be provided on the other side of each longitudinal edge portion of each shutter plate to take the rubbing contact between the shutter plates and the connecting members 2. The strips are spotwelded in place. Specifications 679,249 and 679,250 are referred to.
