Abstract
720,972. Grinding-apparatus. GERDEMANN, O. May 26, 1953 [June 3, 1952], No. 14678/53. Class 59. Grinding-apparatus comprises a ram or ball which is loosely disposed in a vessel the crosssection of which is reduced towards an outlet opening in the bottom of the vessel, the shape of the ram or ball relatively to that of the vessel being such that between the ram or ball and the inner surface of the vessel a space is formed which decreases continuously towards the outlet opening, vibrating means acting directly on the vessel or on the ram or ball. In the form shown, the vessel 1 is fixed to a table 7 which is supported on a fixed table by means of springs 8, the table 7 having fixed thereto an eccentric 9 which when rotated causes the vessel and ball 2 to vibrate. The vibrations may, however, be caused by one or more shakers or by electric means. The stem 4 of the ball is guided in a bridge-piece 5. The ram may be in the form of an ellipsoid, the inner surface of the vessel being correspondingly shaped. Instead of the vessel being vibrated, a vibrator may be supported in the interior of a hollow ram. A number of vibrators may be used.
