720,348. Fire-extinguishing. WICKLANDER, A. E. Sept. 24, 1952 [Nov. 9, 1951 ; Sept. 2, 1952], No. 23967/52. Class 47. [Also in Group XXIX] In means for extinguishing fires in tariks in which an extinguishing fluid is supplied to a hose 26 which is folded up in a compartment 30 whereby the hose is projected into the tank 10 from a point 32 below the level of the liquid in the tank, the hose is enclosed in a casing 103 by which it is protected and guided as it passes through a conduit 101. In one form, a separate casing of rectangular cross-section is provided. In another form, the free end of the hose is enlarged and doubled back over the main part of the hose which is folded. In a modification, the end of the hose is of bulb form and the casing is in two parts. In a further form, Fig. 20, the casing comprises a rear portion 1 and a front portion 5 consisting of two parts pivoted together at 6 and provided with holes to engage with pins 3. The two parts of the portion 5 are held together by a spring ring engaging grooves 8 and are separated by the hose engaging projections 7 when it is filled with fluid. The hose may be folded longitudinally as well as transversely. In a modification, it is of bellows form. Specification 689,526 is referred to.
