Abstract

A chemically resistant lining for a container consists of a layer of cashew nutshell resin bonded to the container by a layer of hydraulic cement-rubber latex composition. Ceramic tiles may p be partly embedded in the bonding layer and the exposed joints pointed with the cashew nutshell resin. In an example, the inside of a steel tank, which is to contain acid, is coated with a latex-hydraulic cement consisting of 100 parts by weight of rubber latex, 100 parts of cement and 200 to 300 parts of sand and tiles are pressed into the coating before it hardens. The tile joints are then pointed with a cement consisting of 100 parts by weight of liquid cashew nutshell resin, 55 parts of cashew nutshell-solid ground resin, 50 parts of acid-resisting brick dust and 10 parts of paraformaldehyde.
