Abstract
597,154. Monolithic flooring. PENN, B. H. May 26, 1944, No. 10284. [Classes 20(ii) and 20(iv)] Before applying a cement surfacing or topping embodying Portland magnesite or like cements to floors having a stone, cement, concrete, &c. base, a binding film or binding surfacing material consisting of a slurry made of the cement constituent of the surfacing is forced under pressure or at high velocity so as to penetrate the interstices of the under surface. The concrete, granolithic or other cement topping is then laid, e.g. before the prepared surface has set. The base is first cleaned as with weak acids or caustic soda, and may then be hacked. A slurry of Portland or rapid hardening cement, of the same kind as is utilised on the topping may be applied by a cement gun to the rough surface which is preferably in well damped or setting state.
