719,638. Flexible tubing. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd. Nov. 3, 1952 [Dec. 1, 1951], No. 28215/51. Class 99 (2). A helix 1 of unplasticized polyvinyl compound, e.g. unplasticized polyvinyl chloride or unplasticized copolymer of vinyl chloride with vinyl acetate or vinylidene chloride, or both, is partly embedded in the outer surface of a flexible tubular member 2 which may be of plasticized polyvinyl chloride, a plasticized polyvinyl compound or vulcanised' natural or synthetic rubber. There may be an outer corrugated cover 4, of plasticized polyvinyl chloride, reinforced with plies 3 of braided wire or textile material. The member 2 may be reinforced with plies of textile material. According to the Provisional Specification, a tubular member of plasticized polyvinyl compound composed of polyvinyl chloride or a copolymer of vinyl chloride with vinyl acetate or vinylidene chloride, or both, plasticized with an ester plasticizer such as tricresyl phosphate, dibutyl phthalate or dioctyle phthalate, closely surrounds an open helix of circular or square crosssection, the material of the helix being extruded and wound in the hot state on a continually rotated and forwarded mandrel, and the tubing being extruded and subsequently applied over the helix, or extruded directly on to the helix.
