Abstract

719,140. Delivery arrangements for storage water heaters. PARNALL, (YATE), Ltd. April 17, 1953 [Oct. 9, 1951], No. 23521/51. Class 64(1) The length of the outlet pipe 1 of a storage water heater is adjusted by means. responsive to the temperature of the water in the heater, so that the head of the pipe is always maintained above the water level while the water temperatureis increasing. In the form shown, the free end of a bimetallic. strip 9 mounted in a short tube 11 is connected to the top of a. flexible corrugated tube 4 of polyvinyl chloride at the top of the tube 1. As the water is being heated, it circulates through the tube 11, through a hole 14 and pipe 12, and causes the strip 9 to lift the top of the tube 4. When. hot water is drawn, cold water supplied to the pipe 13 discharges. into the pipe 11, cools the strip 9. and so lowers the top of the tube 4. The outlet tube 1 may alternatively be telescopic.
