Abstract

<PICT:0717873/III/1> <PICT:0717873/III/2> Apparatus for applying adhesive to box blanks and forming part of a box-making machine (see Group XVII) comprises a glue trough 112 in which rotate rollers 119, the rollers transferring glue to sectors 20 which contact the blanks B as they are carried to the box formers by conveyer chains 18. The glue film on the rollers 119 is regulated by pivoted doctor blades (not shown). Each sector has intaglio rubber surfaces 149 depositing two areas of glue on the blank passing between the sectors 20 and back-up rollers 21 carried on pivoted arms 154. The elements 119, 20, 21 are adjustable on their shafts to suit different size blanks.
