Abstract

<PICT:0732489/III/1> <PICT:0732489/III/2> <PICT:0732489/III/3> In a machine for making liquid packaging cartons of frusto pyramidal form (see Group XV), cut and scored flat blanks are fed on a conveyer 111, 112, Figs. 1, 2, through a station 101 where a rotary member 125 applies paste 126 for the application of a "pouring spout patch" 28 at station 102 and after turning the blank through a small angle at station 103, a side flap 24A of the blank receives gum from end to end from a gumming roller 192 at station 104. The blank is subsequently folded to form the carton. The flap 24A passes between the roller 192, Fig. 6, and a roller 197 on a pivoted arm 196 urged upwardly by a spring 201 but held adjustably by a nut 198. A resilient hold-down finger 204 has a lower end 205 running in contact with the blank. A glue spreading roller 207 is also provided.
