Abstract
717,663. Refrigerating. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN. July 22, 1949 [July 27, 1948], No. 19363/49. Class 29 [Also in Group XXVII] A refrigerator operating on the reversed hot - gas reciprocating engine principle is provided with an auxiliary chamber 13 for supplying a variable amount of working medium to the working space, continuous communication between the chamber and space being effected by a duct 12 having a resistance to flow such that the power output of the engine under operating conditions is decreased by not more than ten per cent and preferably not more than five per cent. As shown, the resistance to flow is varied by a cock 14. The duct may have various crosssections such as circular or annular and is preferably so shaped that the resistance to flow is equal in both directions; also the duct may be filled or partly filled with porous material or fine wire material. The engine shown comprises a .cylinder 1, displacer 2, piston 3, hot space 7, cold space 8, heater 9, cooler 11 and regenerator 10.
