Class 9(2) [Also in Group XXV] A load-bearing hook having means for ejecting the load-carrying member when the load is relieved, comprises two side plates 1, Fig. 1, spaced apart by distance pieces 9, 9A and having hookshaped ends 2 shrouded by noses 3. A trigger 14 and ejector 18 are pivoted at 15, 19 respectively, between the plates and loaded by a common spring 16. The plates are attached, e.g. to a parachute, by cord 11 and a load is attached by a member 4. The trigger is set by engaging jaw 21 of-ejector 18 in notch 22 of the trigger, and when the load becomes supported by the hook, the trigger is depressed releasing ejector 18 and member 4 rests in the hook ends 2. When the load becomes otherwise supported, e.g. by the ground, spring 16 raises the trigger with member 4 which is then ejected by the ejector 18. In another arrangement, the ejector 26, Fig. 5, pivoted at 27 moves between two levers 24 pivoted at 25 and constituting the trigger. The load is attached by a loop 32 which rests on out-turned flanges 34 of the levers 24. When the load is supported by the hook, the lever flanges rest on the hook ends 38 of the side plates 23 and the ejector is released from engagement with pin 36, ejection of the loop being prevented by friction between the loop and the flanges 34 until the load becomes otherwise supported. Where load is applied, relieved, reapplied and finally relieved, a double hook 57, Fig. 9 is provided, the load being attached by cord 54 via a loop 55 to one hook and a loop 59 to the other.
