Abstract

716,743. Screw conveyers. CAWDELL, S. J., and KESTREL ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. May 28,1953, [May 28,1952.] No. 13557/52. Class 78 (I), Powdered material is discharged from a container I by a rotary light helical spring 5 which engages the material throughout its length and has one end in proximity to a discharge aperture II. The rear end 6 of the spring is secured to the driving shaft 4, but the front end 9 includes a double-looped portion 7 which encircles the shaft as a close but rotational fit. The spring is maintained in tension by engagement with the projecting ends of a pin 8 inserted in the shaft. The end 9, Fig. 2, is tangential to the loops 7 and terminates in a head 10 which during rotation passes immediately behind the aperture 11. A detachable shield 12, having gaps 13 at the bottom of each side, is placed in the container above the conveyer.
