Class 106 (2) An instrument for comparing or measuring the tension of powertransmission belts comprises a pair of telescopic and spring-loaded parts a, b, one or each of them having at one end a longitudinally adjustable abutment p, and means h, e, for indicating relative movement of the said parts. The parts a, b may be of tubular form, the outer part a carrying a scale e on which is pivoted a spring-loaded pointer h ; the inner part b having a tongue f in engagement with the pointer h. Lock nuts q are provided for use when setting the abutments p at the required distance apart.
