Class 100(1) A device for changing the feeding speed of a ribbon of electrically in. sulating material to a predetermined value, in. cluding the value zero comprises a feed control member 15 the outer part 16 of which is con. ductive and having the speed of movement of predetermined value, an electrically conductive surface of complementary shape arranged tc co-operate with the member 15 so that the ribbon passes between the member and the complementary surface and means for applying a voltage between the surfaces to effect slip free engagement between the ribbon and the member. As shown the complementary surface is formed by an endless band 30 which is earthed. To change the feed speed to zero a stationary member is used in conjunction with an earthed flexible strip secured between fixed clamps one of which is earthed.
