Abstract
716,118. Liquid-seal devices for relieving pressure. SIMPLEX ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. March 12, 1952 [March 15, 1951], No. 6247/51. Class 135 A pressure relieving device for a steaming oven comprises a seal formed by a column of liquid, e.g. a U-tube 16, and the outlet from the column leads into an expansion chamber 17 provided with outlets 2 which point in a safe direction. When the steam pressure in the oven becomes excessive, the liquid is forced up into the expansion chamber, and the steam can then bubble through and escape to atmosphere through the outlets. A baffle plate 23 prevents the liquid from being ejected directly through the outlet. The chamber 17 would normally be located above the top of the oven.
