Abstract

716,051. Body harness. DAVIES, A. T. Dec. 22, 1952 [Dec. 29, 1951], No. 30383/51. Class 141 [Also in Group XXV] Harness for cleaning windows &c. is provided with a coupling device, Fig. 1, comprising a headed bolt or skid A and a snap or spring hook A<1> arranged diametrically opposite to each other on an axle A<2> mounted in a stirrup or open-ended link B to which a chain or rope C<1> connected to the harness can be coupled. The head of the bolt A may be inserted in a key-hole slot E<1>, Fig. 3, in a plate E attached to one side of a window frame whilst a similar arrangement is provided on the other side, the rope C<1> connecting the two and being attached to a safety belt D. When extensive lateral movement is required, the parts A, A<1> are turned on their axle A<2> so that the snap hook A' projects from the stirrup B to engage an eyelet G', Fig. 6, carried by a plate G furnished with rollers G<2> running on inturned flanges on a channel bar F secured to the upper part of the window. In an alternative arrangement, longitudinal movement is provided for by attaching the snap hook to a vertical bar attached to the window or other structure.
