Abstract

A gelatine capsule containing 3-methyl-pentyn-3-ol has walls consisting of gelatin and sorbitol together with water, the ratio of gelatin to sorbitol being from 3:1 to 3:4. The alcohol may be mixed with an edible oil, in particular a glyceride such as corn oil, olive oil, sesame oil, peanut oil or glyceryl mono- or di-oleate, or an edible ester of ethyl alcohol, propylene glycol, polyethylene glycol or polyoxyethylene (20) sorbitan, such as ethyl oleate, propylene glycol monolaurate, triacetin, polyoxyethylene (20) sorbitan monooleate. The preferred ester to alcohol ratio is 50:50. Thickening agents such as beeswax, polyoxythylene, ethyl cellulose or soaps may be present. The alcohol may also be mixed with a polyethylene glycol, or a mixture containing a polyethylene glycol, which is liquid at the capsulating temperature. The ratio of polyethylene glycol to alcohol may be 90:10.
