715,579. Roller bearings. HARDY SPICER, Ltd. April 21, 1953 [April 14, 1952], No. 20435/52. Drawings to Specification. Class 12(1) In a needle bearing having cylindrical inner and outer races, the needle rollers are of barrel shape adjacent their ends so that the ends have a diameter at least 0.0002 inch less than the diameter of the main portion. This enables the rollers to skew in their unloaded positions without indenting the outer race. Preferably the ends of the needles are reduced by about 0.0003 inch by means of a tumbling operation lasting for a longer period than usual, for example 60 minutes.
