Class 23 [Also in Group XXVI] In a centrifuge having a hollow rotor 108 provided with axial inlet and outlet apertures 110 on opposite sides thereof and a distributer plate 126 disposed within and spaced from an annular receptacle for separated solids, the rotor has a slotted annular wall 138 defining the inner boundary of said receptacle and the distributer plate 126 has radial vanes 132 extending from adjacent the centre of the rotor to the periphery thereof so as to subdivide the receptacle into a number of pockets. The centrifuge housing 96 is bolted to the housing 64 of a scavenging pump 80, 86 and has a sump which is connected by passages 158, 160 to said pump. The rotor 108 is splined to the shaft of a gear pump 54. 58 and comprises a cup-portion 134 and a cover 136: the plate 126 being clamped between the members 134 136. The vanes 132 extend above and below the plate and radially beyond its bulbous end 130. The rotor may be made of aluminium and the bulbous portion 130 constitute a thin walled plate. see Fig. 4 (not shown). The gear pump draws oil through a floating' screen and pipes 140, 144 and delivers the oil through an outlet 76 and pipes 150-152, 154 to the centrifugal rotor. The purified oil is discharged through the upper trunnion 110 and a passage 66 in the gear 58.
