Abstract

714,436. Electric immersion heaters. SINGLETON, S. A., and SINGLETON BROS. (INSTRUMENTS), Ltd. Dec. 10, 1952 [Sept. 28, 1951], No. 22656/51. Class 39 (3) An electric immersion heater comprises a helical coil 2 of resistance wire looped lengthwise over an insulating, e.g. ceramic or micanite strip 1 mounted longitudinally in a sealed tube 5. This construction enables a heater of small size, e.g. for use in aquariums, to be made. The coil 2 is preferably tensioned prior to looping over the strip 1 to ensure that it grips the strip and is held in position there.
