Abstract

Heading H5H An immersion heater comprises an electric heating element 1 electrically insulated from a surrounding watertight casing 4 by an insulating sleeve 8, the casing 4 being completely filled by granular insulation 9. The heating element comprises a wire wound on a porcelain former 2 and the stainless steel casing 4 is sealed by silicone rubber end plugs 5. The sleeve 8 is made of boro-silicate glass, fused quartz or translucent silica and the granular insulation 9 is made of magnesium oxide, alumina or quartz.
