Abstract

713,874. Guiding webs transversely. MEISSNER, R. Jan. 23, 1952; No. 1866/52. Class 100 (1) Web guiding means for correcting transverse deviations of a web comprises two pairs of rollers between which the web passes, each pair including a longer roller a and a shorter roller b, each projecting length being remote from the centre line of the web, and braking means adjacent each projecting length. The rollers a and bare rotatably mounted in stirrups f pivotally mounted by journals g in bearings h. The braking means may comprise spring-pressed brake shoes c, such that when the web deviates laterally the selvedge runs between a roller a and brake shoe c, thus causing the corresponding stirrup f to swing about its journal g to restore the fabric to its normal lateral position. The shoes c may be replaced by narrow rollers braked by brake shoes or spiral springs.
