[Also in Group VIII] Woven wire fabric, for example, that to be used in endless form such as the, wires: of Fourdrinier machines and the covers of cylinder mould machines and dandy rolls, has at least one edge formed by folding some weft ends back onto and across one face and bending other weft ends either to lie substantially along the edge of the fabric or to lie across one face at an angle different from that of the first-mentioned weft ends. Warp wires crowded at the edge of the fabric during weaving are cut away, one or more remaining edge warps are then pulled out in a direction such that all weft ends 3, Fig. 1, on one side are automatically bent back over the surface of the fabric and the ends S on the other side left projecting are bent over in the plane of the fabric to lie alongside its edge. The ends may be pressed into the fabric by rolling. In an alternative arrangement, Fig. 2, the ends 5 may also lie on the face of the fabric, at a lesser angle to the edge than the ends 3. In another arrangement, Fig. 3, the ends 3 lie at an angle of about 45 degrees to the edge with two ends 5 between each pair of ends 3. In a further arrangement, Fig. 4, there are two ends 3 between each pair of ends 5 lying at different angles to the edge. The edge, or that portion of the fabric near the edge and including the tips of the bent over wefts, may be embedded in a strip of moulded plastic material.
