Class 83 (1) A cylinder or liner for an internal combustion engine is made by pouring a mixture of copper or copper alloy and iron into a centrifugal mould so that under the action of the centrifugal force, the copper or copper alloy is deposited on the outside and the iron on the inside with an intermediate connecting zone containing both iron and acopper. The cylinder may be cast with external cooling ribs.
