Abstract

713,389. Junction boxes; terminal boards. HARTLEY ELECTROMOTIVES, Ltd., EVANS, R., and PETRIE, J. D. July 22, 1953, [Aug. 6, 1952.] No. 19831/52. Class 38 (I). A sheet metal junction box i comprises a base 7 with upstanding walls 2 ... 5, the walls 2, 4 having flanges 6 on which are secured sponge rubber strips 8 which co-operate with similar strips 34 on opposite walls of a sheet metal cover 28, to clamp conductors 35 extending from opposite sides of a terminal block 9 secured to the base 7. The terminal block is of moulded insulating material and has ribs 11, 12, 17, 18 defining recesses in which are embedded threaded inserts 13 for receiving terminal screws 14 with washers 15, 16. A central transverse recess for an earthing strip 20 is also defined, and all the recesses are closed by a cover 23. Where the box is mounted in a hole in say a ceiling, a cover plate, Fig. 5 (not shown) larger than the cover 28 may be secured to cover 28 to close the hole.
