Abstract
712,157. Posts adapted to be jammed between opposed surfaces. SILVA, L. F. DA, and MARCEN, F. P. Sept. 11, 1952, No. 22891/52. Class 20 (1). [Also in Group XXV] A fitting for supporting articles such as curtains or racks between uprights 16, 17, in which the ends of a carrier bar 1 enter sockets 4, 5, in a pair of supporting members 2, 3, the latter carrying cork or other friction discs 14, 15, one end of the bar 1 is attached to member 2 by a screw 8 and the other end of the bar is acted upon by a compression spring 12 reacting against the base of the member 3. The head 9 of screw 8 has prongs 10 pressed into the ends of the cylindrical bar 1, and the screw 8 screws into a bushing 7 which is fitted, either by screwing or pressing, within a cavity 6 extending from the base of the socket 4. The curtain 18 is suspended by rings 19. In a modification the coil spring 12 is screwed within a shallow cavity in one end of the bar 1, the opposite end thereof receiving the bushing 7, and the prongs 10 on the head 9 of screw 8 being pressed into the base of the socket 4. In a further form the bar has a prismatic crosssection and its ends are cylindrical.
