Abstract

711,820. Bowl-type scrapers. EUCLID ROAD MACHINERY CO. Jan. 21, 1952, No. 1682/52. Class 68(1) In a tractor-drawn bowltype scraper the hoist means for raising and lowering the bowl with respect to the yoke comprises one or a pair of single-acting pistoncylinder hoist units 65, 66 the cylinders of which are mounted on the yoke 50, The forwardly projecting pistons 67c each carry two rotatable sheaves 71, 72 or 75, 76 whilst at the rear of each cylinder, in alignment, there are two more sheaves 73, 74 or 77, 78. A cable 79 is dead ended at 79a on the yoke and is led by guides 80, 81 around the front 71 and rear 73 sheave of one hoist unit. downwards about a guide 82 on the bowl 12, and then upwards and over sheaves 74, 72 before being led by a crossover run by guides 84, 85 to be received in an identical manner about the sheaves of the second unit and another guide on the bowl and to be dead ended on the yoke. A similar cable hoist 67 controls the front apron 53. The pivotal connection 52 of the yoke to the bowl is on an axis slightly to the rear of the digging blade 16 and approximately two-fifths the way up from the bottom to the top of the bowl. The drawbar structure has an aperture A to enable the tractor driver to view the working parts of the scraper from the driving seat. Specifications 711,819 and 711,821 are referred to.
