711,195. Control systems for stage lighting. SIEMENS - SCHUCKERTWERKE AKT.-GES. June 16, 1952 [June 15, 1951], No. 15154/52. Addition to 700.909. Class 38(4) [Also in Group XXXVIII] The parent Specification is modified by using electromagnetic clutches to transmit power from continuously running motors for driving the variable tap on the lighting transformer regulator. The system employs two continuously running motors. one running fast and the other slow. and each driving two shafts rotating in opposite directions. In the embodiment shown if the slider on the transmitter or command potentiometer 1 is moved over a wide range to produce coarse adjustment of tap 5 on stage lighting transformer regulator 3 the voltage between 1 and reference potentiometer 2 operates a non- polarized relay 7 in addition to polarized relay 6 whereby clutch 19 or 20 is operated to couple the corresponding fastrunning shaft to the tap 5. The latter is ganged to the slider on the reference potentiometer 2 and when the voltage between 1 and 2 has decreased sufficiently relay 7 falls back and the movement of tap 5 is continued slowly via clutch 17 or 18 and the corresponding slow-running shaft until the voltage between 1 and 2 reaches zero de-energizing relay 6. If the slider on 1 is moved over a narrow range to produce fine adjustment only of tap 5 the voltage between 1 and 2 is insufficient to operate relay 7 and thus tap 5 is moved slowly through a clutch 17 or 18.
