Abstract

498,844. Adjusting wireless apparatus; stopping and starting mechanism. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., and STEWART, J. July 15, 1937, No. 19641. [Class 37] [Also in Group XXIV] An adjustment device for a variable element, such as a condenser, comprises a friction clutch and a spring connection so arranged that after a limit stop in the adjustment has been reached, further drive in the same direction imparts a spring strain while the clutch slips. The driving mechanism, Fig. 2, cooperates with limit stops M, Fig. 1, an arm L, last on the driven shaft S, being retained in position against one or other of the stops by springs K on the driving drum G which is connected with cable controlling one or a number of tuning elements. The limit stops M are adjustable along an arcuate plate N. The drum G is slotted to receive an arm F located between the springs K and connected to an annular member B forming with a flanged disc A the friction clutch. The clutch member 13 is spring pressed by a spider C secured in position by a nut E and washer D, the latter having pins Q which pass through holes in the spider C and disc A, the parts A, C and D thereby being fast on the shaft S.
