In an apparatus where an oil regulator 5 and the carburetter 9 of a combustion engine are controlled manually through Bowden cables 3, 7 as by a rotatable handle 1 or a lever, the regulator is arranged in series with and between the handle 1 and carburetter 9 so that failure of the control means for the regulator will result in a fall in engine speed thereby providing a clear indication of the failure.
