710,473. Sound reproducing circuits. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. June 12, 1952 [June 15, 1951], No. 14842/52. Class 40 (4) [Also in Group XL (c)] The output from a gramophone pick-up 17 is suppressed in a push-pull amplifier with automatic gain control whenever pre-amplified signals are received from a microphone 16. As shown, the microphone is connected over pre-amplifying valve 1 to the pick-up circuit at a common amplifying valve 2 which supplies a push-pull pair of valves 6, 7 over phase reversing valves 3, 4. In the push-pull circuit a cathode transformer 20 and a rectifier 21 provides stabilized class B operation. The push-pull output is applied over a transformer 8 to a loudspeaker 9 and to an automatic gain control circuit comprising a rectifier 10 and a smoothing circuit 11, a potentiometer 12 determining the threshold control voltage. In a modification the pick-up may be replaced by a second microphone.
